What is web design about?

  • innovation?
  • bells and whistles?
  • information?
  • style?
  • colour?

Perhaps a little of each, but mostly it's about getting the message across to the reader. Snazzy style, lots of action is not really achieving that — unless action video games or similar is your product.

For most businesses, it is about informing, in a fresh and easily understood manner, what the company is selling.

Writing style will vary according to the content of the site. A kid's activity site should be lively and fun, while a site which deals with legal matters needs to be straightforward and 'stately'.
