Colour can have a psychological effect on a viewer.

Some cultures use colours for specific inferences: for example, purple

Purple is perceived to be royal, regal. This stemms from the fact that long ago the dyes needed to produce purple were so rare that only kings could have them.

Can be very 'dark', moody. Tints are 'lighter' — lilac, mauve, lavender, jacaranda.

Can be aristocratic, elegant. Can be feminine, romantic in its lighter values.
