Latest site design
create-a-blind.co.uk from London, UK is a brand new online business where customers can design a blind online.
The owners, Debby and Andy, have been in business for seventeen years, and decided to go online late last year.
First: the logo
Debby spent quite a bit of time and energy making a static website in Dreamweaver, so she had a logo and much of the text already prepared. The logo consisted of two - side by side - elements: one of the shapes a customer can have on a roller blind and her logo text.
I combined the two to make a more compact and more usable logo and placed the existing tagline at the bottom.
Next: the page layout
The design was worked up in Fireworks, and then the style sheets composed in Dreamweaver CS3. I also used the logo in an elongated form, placing blind images in "windows" for the index page. Inner pages use the short logo with only the text inside the narrow shape. The client was very excited about her new "front door".
Implementing CubeCart
The CubeCart shop styles were the easy bit. The modifications needed to run the site were many and varied, and it was a really steep learning curve, but the end result is very satisfactory to both the client and me.
Debby had two online generated orders before the site was finished, so she is certainly on a winner. Best wishes.
